This Springfield Ohio wedding took place on an unseasonably warm day in October. I had been looking forward to this day for months since Michelle first texted me to tell me she was engaged and she wanted me to be her photographer, an honor since we have been friends since we were 5. I had prayed for perfect weather and a care-free day that Michelle, JR and their friends and family would enjoy.
I met Michelle and her bridal party at Beth’s City Salon for a few quick photos of them getting ready and to discuss a final run down of the day’s schedule. While the ladies were getting their hair and make up perfected, the guys were playing golf. The day was running on time and even had a little built in extra time, so we opted to make our way to the wedding venue, the K of C, and get started there.
Michelle’s bridal party was amazing! Not only did they help Michelle out and make sure all her needs were met, they helped me to make sure that Michelle’s photos would be incredible and that we could stay on time. Jenny, the maid of honor, set up the invitation suite for me while Michelle’s soon to be sister in law set up the burlap sash to hang the dresses on. It was a full team effort to run it all smoothly.
Once dressed, Michelle and her bride’s maids joined me outside for a photo session before the groom and the groom’s men arrived. Michelle was even more stunning than I had imagined. She carried her favorite stargazer lilies in a bouquet by Schneider’s Florist. It was a perfectly simple understated bouquet that let Michelle’s beauty shine through.
But what truly made the bouquet amazing is that Michelle added her late father’s wedding band to the bouquet as well as her late grandmother’s. It was a beautiful way to remember them and carry them with her through out the wedding.
Aren’t these ladies beautiful?!?!!
It wasn’t long after the ladies were finished and then the guys arrived. JR and his grooms’ men were decked out in jeans and boots with ties and vests. It’s always fun to photograph a joyful spirited bunch of guys that happy to be there in support of their friend, the groom. This was that kind of bunch.
And then there was my favorite time of the day; Hanging out with the bride and groom just after they became husband and wife. This is where being the wedding photographer for one of my dearest friends makes me pretty lucky. I get to spend those first few moments with the couple and I get to capture their love. This was moments after Michelle walked down the aisle with her brother and JR whispered, “Wow,” as he teared up and then took her hand.
Congratulations, Michelle and JR! It was such an honor to capture your day and be a witness to your beautiful love for one another.
