Day 5

If you read my post from earlier today, then you know I am a sucker for dogs.  And I’m raising kiddos that are suckers too <3   This past year we decided, as a family, to become a foster home for dogs and cats through a rescue agency out of Cincinnati.  The agency is in contact with rural shelters and others that have dogs and cats that need homes.

I’m not explaining this well.  Many of these dogs are trapped and fostered until our agency can get them or they are on the euthanize list and their days or even minutes are numbered.  We save lives 🙂

We foster dogs and cats.  Below is our very first foster.

This is the foster dog formerly known as Blue.  He was found running wild in West Virginia, I think that is the place, and he took some time, but he finally got all the way in the trap.  He was skin and bones. Incredibly shy, he would cower when people were around.

The foster dog fka Blue, came to live with us at the end of July.  He was so afraid.  He wouldn’t be in the same room with us at first.  It took several weeks for him to come near us voluntarily….even longer to let us pet him.  He was also a chewer.  Chewed everything.  Wasn’t fully aware that his potty was out back….ugh.  Basically, a pain in the booty. 🙂

But our Griffin LOVED him.  And he loved Griff.  They played so well together.  Always this gentleness to their bites and tugs at each other.  It was amazing. And definitely something that Griff and Blue needed.

As the months went on, I found it harder and harder to give Blue up to a new family.  I tried to convince myself that it would be the right thing to do, but my heart said no way.

So, together, we decided to make the foster dog fka Blue, our new family member.  He officially became our first foster fail Thanksgiving weekend.  We couldn’t be happier.

And I know this may sound weird to some, but I swear Brutus, that’s his new name….as Ohio State fans calling him Blue was hard!!!  He answers to Brutus better than he ever answered to Blue anyway!!!  Ok, where was I?? oh yeah.  Brutus seems to know he’s part of the family now.  He is more at ease. I swear!  He doesn’t chew things like he used to.  He uses the correct potty area.  He’s just different.  <3

He’s home.
